Melissa A. Byers,
D.V.M.
Dr. Byers is a 1981 graduate of The University of
California at Davis. She worked in a multi-doctor
practice in Anaheim for six years and then became the owner of Lake
Forest Animal Clinic in 1988. Dr. Byers is married and has two
teenage sons. Her husband, Rich Rauh, is an architect
specializing in veterinary hospitals. Dr. Byers stays busy just
keeping up with her family's many activities.

Jason
L. Trope, D.V.M.
Lake Forest
Animal Clinic is pleased to welcome Dr. Jason Trope to our
staff. Dr. Trope is an undergraduate of Purdue University
and 1999 graduate of Purdue University Vet School. He is a
native of Florida and moved to California six years ago. In
his spare time he enjoys scuba diving, flying and paint
ball. Dr. Trope has a special interest in
surgery.

Karen O'Neill, D.V.M.
Lake Forest
Animal Clinic is pleased to welcome Dr. Karen O'Neill to our
staff. Dr. O'Neill graduated from U.C. Davis in 1985 with a
Bachelor's degree in Physiological Chemistry and in 1989 from the
School of Veterinary Medicine. She worked as a research
biochemist during her years at U.C. Davis. Dr. O'Neill enjoys
practicing small mammal medicine and surgery, including "pocket
pets" such as rabbits, rats, ferrets, and guinea pigs. Her
special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery,
and canine reproduction. Dr. O'Neill lives in Irvine with her
husband and two daughters. She is active in equestrian sports and
trains and competes in dressage.
Jennifer Self, D.V.M.
Lake Forest
Animal Clinic is pleased to welcome Dr. Jennifer Self to our
staff. Dr. Self received her Bachelor degree of Science in
Biology from San Diego State University in 1997 and graduated with
her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State
University in 2001. Dr. Self's special interests are internal
medicine, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. Her husband is
a sixth grade school teacher and they have two young
daughters. They also keep busy taking care of their two dogs
and four cats. Dr. Self enjoys the exciting field of
veterinary medicine and truly loves her job.
